ABOUT
Founded in 1969, The Ailey School has grown into a world-renowned educational institution housed in the bright studios of The Joan Weill Center for Dance in New York City. Led by Directors Tracy Inman and Melanie Person, the School’s curriculum-based programs echo Alvin Ailey’s philosophy, providing students with the highest caliber of multidisciplinary training while encouraging them to explore their own creative voice. The diverse faculty includes former members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, as well as leading instructors in Horton, Graham-based modern, West African, and many other techniques. A launch pad for successful careers in dance, The Ailey School’s alumni have gone on to dance with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II. Alumni also perform on Broadway and for other major companies including Ballet Hispánico, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Martha Graham Dance Company.
