About the Programs

The Professional Division offers year-round dance education for students ages 16 to 25 through rigorous conservatory-style training of the highest caliber. Our esteemed faculty encourages students to let their creativity and individuality shine, preparing them for successful careers in dance.

Ages 16 to 25 

Summer Intensive 

An exciting five-week program where students immerse themselves in a variety of dance techniques and learn repertory for a final performance. The Summer Intensive takes place at The Joan Weill Center for Dance in the heart of New York City's Theater District.  

Ages 17 to 21 

Scholarship Program

The Ailey School's prestigious Scholarship Program offers financial support to students in the School's Professional Division (ages 17 to 21) who show the highest potential for a career in dance. 

Ages 17 to 23 

Certificate Program 

A three-year program for advanced/beginner to intermediate level students who have completed their secondary school requirements. This program takes a conservatory approach to dance training, combining dance technique, academics, creative studies, repertory, and performance. 

Ages 17 to 25 

Independent Study 

For students who have completed their secondary school requirements, this program offers intensive training for those who wish to further develop their artistry and technical skill while enhancing their professional potential. Students may also obtain college credit for their attendance in this program if they are already working towards a degree in another college or university.

High School Graduates

Ailey/Fordham BFA Program 

An innovative partnership between The Ailey School and Fordham University that offers a diverse curriculum combining the finest in dance and liberal arts education in a four-year program. Students attend both institutions concurrently.
