Ailey Extension Instructor
Lisa Fitzgerald is the associate artistic director and co-founder of Exit12 Dance Company, an international arts organization dedicated to sharing veterans' stories through dance and using movement as a means of connection and healing. Lisa received her formative training at the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts and later performed with numerous companies in New York City, as well as working as a freelance artist in London, U.K. where she was the recipient of a global talent visa.
Lisa has taught at Mark Morris Dance Center, Ballet Theatre Company, Gibney Studios, Pineapple Dance Studios, and Danceworks London. She created and taught the pointe program for London Ballet Classes, along with short courses in contemporary, ballet, and pointe for City Academy UK. She has led movement workshops for military veterans with Soldiers Arts Academy and Bravo 22 in the U.K., and with Exit12 throughout the United States and Europe.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts, summa cum laude, from Saint Mary's College of California, a teaching certificate from the Bolshoi Ballet Teacher Certification Program, and has trained as a Rambert Grades contemporary teacher. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Education (Dance Teaching) at the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
