International Student Visa Instructions

Welcome international students and congratulations on your acceptance!

Academic School Year

For questions, email [email protected].

As an international student, you must obtain an F-1 Student Visa if you plan to enroll in one of our full time training programs.

The Ailey School Director of Admissions will assist you with this process, as it is not possible to apply for an F-1 student visa without the assistance of The Ailey School. In order to apply for an F-1 visa at the U.S. Consulate in your home country you will need a form called the "I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Nonimmigrant Student Status", which you can only obtain from The Ailey School Admissions Office after fulfilling the requirements listed below.

You cannot begin the process of applying for a visa until you have completed the steps below and have received an I-20 form from The Ailey School.

Summer Intensive

Students participating in the Summer Intensive do NOT need to obtain a Student Visa to participate in the Summer Intensive.

If your country of citizenship participates in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, you may apply online for a Visa Waiver . A Visa Waiver (also known as ESTA) allows you to stay in the U.S. for up to 90 days.  If your country is not listed as one of the eligible countries, you may apply for a B-2 tourist visa  at the U.S. Consulate near your home. The Ailey School will provide you with a letter to help expedite this process.

If you have also been accepted for the school year, you will need to return to your home country after the Summer Intensive to apply for a student visa for the rest of the year. Please keep this in mind when coordinating your housing accommodations and your yearly budget, as it will necessitate your incurring another plane fare to return home after the summer.

The Ailey School is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.
