About the Program
Curriculum
Classes are structured to develop strength, flexibility, and coordination along with the discipline, focus, and drive found in professional male athletes and dancers. Students participate in a variety of classes including ballet, Horton (a modern dance technique), West African, and tap.
Students attend classes once or twice a week depending on level placement. Classes are held on Saturday for Levels A and B, and on Saturday and one weekday for Level C. The school year commences in September and ends in May.

Male students must first audition and be accepted to the Pre-Professional Program to then be considered for the Ailey Athletic Boys Program.
FAQs
Yes, a dress code is required for all programs. To purchase the required attire, you can order online or visit The Ailey Boutique located inside The Joan Weill Center for Dance. For store hours, please call 212-405-9100.
There is a $20 audition fee for all applicants. You can sign up for the audition and pay the fee once you’ve applied to your chosen program.
