Celebrate National Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month at AILEY with a dance class and social! 

Join renowned dancer and Ailey instructor Katherine Jiménez as she breaks down the history and technique of NY Style Mambo during a 90-minute dance class open to all levels. Then, the dance floor is yours for a 30-minute dance social featuring Latin music hits. 

Don't miss out on this special evening of community and joy at Ailey Extension.

Students are encouraged to represent their cultural heritage with flags and clothing.

About the Instructor

Katherine Jiménez is an international dance performer, instructor, choreographer, and entrepreneur. Born in New York City, Katherine began her dance training with The Ailey School Junior Division at a young age. She had the opportunity to continue her training, start teaching, and graduate from Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS).

Katherine has performed at New York City Center, The United Palace, and Lincoln Center with artists such as Tony Vega, Johnny Pacheco, Andy Montanez, Marvin Santiago, Willie Colon, Charanga America, and many others. In addition to teaching, choreographing, and performing, Katherine has also been a judge for the World Salsa Summit and she was a featured dancer for the 2021 film In the Heights.

Katherine holds a master’s degree in Dance Education from NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Representation is Katherine’s most significant driving force, and she prides herself on breaking down complex patterns so everyone can understand them.
