“Chocolates and chinaberry cherries melt on the highways / I don’t know what I want to do.”

Writer Carl Hancock’s elusive phrases are repeated throughout this dance, which is an exploration of love and intimacy on dangerous avenues. Acerbic snapshots of friendship, betrayal, and trust dissolve into the uncertainty of an urban maze. This rapid dance is punctuated with subtle glances and gentle caresses as a romantic pas de deux gives way to moments of honest interaction. This dance is performed to Grammy Award-winning musician Vernon Reid’s symphonic score.
