Dedicated to the Hearts of the People.

From the Mountains of Taubalu is an inspirational, political solo that Rovan Deon created especially for dancer Marilyn Banks. This work marked the professional choreographic debut of Deon, who studied at The Ailey School and previously had choreographed only in workshop situations. The music is comprised of two devotional/gospel songs, “Tomorrow” and “The Question Is,” both by The Winans. The lyrics of the first section speak of putting off until tomorrow the human regeneration necessary today, while the second section contains fragments like ''He died so that I might be free'' and ''Russians already out of Afghanistan.''
