Clear Songs After Rain was a ceremonial, poetic piece abounding with Eastern influences. The work began with an ensemble called “After the Rain” and ended with an ensemble called “Before the Rain.” In between were four “Haikus.” Norman Walker's modern style had a strong Martha Graham aesthetic. Lou Harrison’s music had a definite Asian influence. The decor, consisting of strips of glittering tinfoil, shimmered in the wind, suggesting a stylized view of rainfall.
