Recounting the Biblical story of Cain and Abel through their mother Eve’s eyes, this ballet explores the complicated emotions within family relationships. While the two brothers dance out their dispute with great intensity, Eve stands between them, a picture of resilient grace. George Crumb’s vocal score, “Ancient Voices of Children,” is airy and evocative, while Rouben Ter Arutunian’s set is simple but breathtaking.
