Stefanie Batten Bland

Choreographic artist Stefanie Batten Bland is a 2016 Schonberg Fellow, 2014/15 Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation New Directions Choreography Lab Fellow, 2014 Joffrey Ballet Choreographer of Color, 2010-12 Baryshnikov Arts Center Resident Artist, and Jerome Robbins NEW Fellow.   

In 2008, while head choreographer of the Paris Opera Comique, Batten Bland founded Company SBB so that she might better investigate the human condition and relationships within the natural world. Her works for stage and film have been performed throughout Europe, Asia, and the US. Her commissions include Transitions Dance Company of London, Danceland of Singapore, Zenon Dance Company ,and Ailey II. Batten Bland has danced for Bill T. Jones, Sean Curran, Lar Lubovitch, Angelin Preljocaj, Julie Taymor, and Pina Bausch, among others. She also performed for PunchDrunk in SleepNoMore.
