Hollie Wright

Hollie Wright, a Philadelphia native, began her professional career at The Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO!). Wright performed on Broadway as the lead role of Kalimba in Maurice Hines’ Hot Feet, in addition to her performances in Thoughts of a Colored Man (original Broadway cast), Amazing Grace on Broadway, and Cabin in the Sky at New York City Center. Other regional and touring performance credits include The Color Purple (first national tour) and Oklahoma (Arena Stage). Wright can be seen in the series Modern Love on Amazon Prime, Jon Chu’s In The Heights, and Lena Waithe’s Beauty on Netflix.

Wright has choreographed for various productions and companies around the world including UniverSoul Circus, Party City advertising, Working: A Musical and Into the Woods at Montclair State, and Hair, Disaster!, and Head Over Heels at NYU. Wright received her first regional theatre credit for choreography for Gypsy at Theatre Aspen and made her debut at Paper Mill Playhouse in their summer conservatory as a director and choreographer. Wright was also nominated for a Broadway World Award for her choreography in the off-Broadway production of A Soulful Christmas. Wright enjoyed her directorial debut in the spring of 2024 with the production of Seussical the Musical and most recently directed and choreographed Violet the Musical at Montclair State University.  

Wright holds a BFA in Dance Education and is currently Jazz Chair at The Ailey School as well as an adjunct at Montclair State University and New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Wright is also part of the faculty for American Ballet Theater’s Summer program and various schools through New York City’s boroughs. Wright has taught at SUNY Purchase, Manhattan School of Music, Walt Disney Productions, Harlem School of the Arts, and abroad. Wright is currently in grad school, working towards an MFAIA at Point Park University.
