Gustavo Ramírez Sansano (San Fulgencio, Spain) was artistic director of Luna Negra Dance Theater from 2009–2013. He currently works as a freelance choreographer and directs Titoyaya Dansa. Sansano has received numerous choreography awards, including first prize at the Ricard Moragas Competition, Prix Dom Perignon Choreographic Competition, and Premio de Las Artes Escénicas de la Comunidad Valenciana. He has been commissioned to create works for Nederlands Dans Theater, Compania Nacional de Danza, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, BalletBC, Atlanta Ballet, and Ballet Hispánico, among others. Sansano danced for companies including Ballet de la Comunidad de Madrid, Nederlands Dans Theater, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. He was chosen by Por la Danza’s 15th anniversary issue as one of “Fifteen Choreographers to Watch” and Dance Magazine featured him in its “25 to Watch.” Sansano was named a Chicagoan of the Year in Arts and Entertainment by the Chicago Tribune. In June 2017, Sansano was chosen by l'Associació de Professionals de la Dansa de la Comunitat Valenciana (APDCV) for its 30th anniversary as Outstanding Valencian Choreographer.
