Contemporary
Brice Mousset is Founder, Artistic Director, and Choreographer of OUI DANSE, a NYC project based dance company. Born and raised in Paris, France, Mr. Mousset studied Biology and Human Sciences at Nanterre University before falling into the world of dance. After an eclectic performing career in Europe in musicals, operas, TV and dance companies, Mr. Mousset moved to New York City to begin teaching and choreographing.
In Europe and the US, Mr. Mousset choreographs for OUI DANSE and for film, fashion, circus, operas and musicals. He has choreographed for Broadway Bares, Broadway Cares/Equity Fight AIDS, and has created works for some of the most prestigious American dance institutions such as The Ailey School, Martha Graham Dance 2, SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, Point Park University, Montclair Dance University, Broadway Dance Center, Peridance Center, Joffrey Ballet School, and STEPS on Broadway. Mr. Mousset has choreographed for and performed with Christine Dakin, former Principal Dancer and Artistic Director of Martha Graham Dance Company. He was also chosen by Mr. Robert Battle for the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation New Directions Choreography Lab.
Mr. Mousset’s first work for OUI DANSE, “Travailler”, was Reverbdance APAP award winner for Best Choreography and Audience Favorite. The company performs extensively at venues such as New York Live Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out Series, Riverside Dance Festival, Danspace Project at Saint Mark’s Church, Luminaria Arts Festival, and Dancers For Good Festival. In France, Mr. Mousset was invited by Pierre François Heuclin to have OUI DANSE perform at Vaison Danses International Dance Festival and was also invited by Abou Lagraa for a residency at Lachapelle Saint Marie.
He currently teaches Contemporary, Improvisation, and Partnering in The Ailey School's Professional Division, and serves as Faculty Advisor for the Certificate Program.
