Founded by Alvin Ailey in 1958, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is AILEY's flagship company and an American cultural institution. Ailey II, founded in 1974, offers early-career dancers vital experience to transition from training as a student to becoming a professional dancer. Both companies provide a platform for diverse artists to share the joy and beauty of dance with audiences worldwide.
