AILEY hosts fundraising galas each year—one in New York and one in Washington, DC—attracting luminaries in business, philanthropy, and entertainment from around the globe. Our fundraising events offer the chance for our dedicated community of supporters to come together to benefit AILEY's ongoing activities, including performances, training, and community programs.
Opening Night Gala
AILEY’s annual Opening Night Gala takes place during Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s New York City Center season at the end of each year. It includes an exclusive performance event from the Company, followed by a gala dinner and the chance to meet the dancers, choreographers, and leaders at AILEY.
Proceeds support the creation of new works, scholarships for talented students at The Ailey School, and AILEY’s innovative educational programs for children.
Washington, DC Gala
The annual Washington, DC Gala Benefit takes place during Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s annual season at The Kennedy Center, including an exclusive performance event from the Company followed by a soiree. The Gala Benefit offers the opportunity to meet the dancers, choreographers, and leaders from AILEY.
Proceeds support AILEY’s local DC programs, including new works, arts-in-education activities, and scholarships for talented young dance students in the Washington area to attend The Ailey School in New York City.
