Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation (AILEY), one of the world’s premier dance institutions, seeks an experienced and motivated Individual Giving Manager to join the Development team. 

Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation is a nonprofit organization comprised of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, Ailey Arts in Education & Community Programs, and Ailey Extension.

The Individual Giving Manager will report to AILEY’s Director of Major Gifts & Individual Giving, supporting the work of the individual giving team and working closely with the special events and development operations teams. The Individual Giving Manager must possess strong interpersonal, research, writing, administrative, and project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines. Successful candidates will have data management experience.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Annual Giving

  • Serve as frontline fundraiser and primary contact for Annual Fund donors
  • Develop, plan, and prepare national multi-platform acquisition campaigns, including campaign strategy, print and digital materials, and revenue and expense budgets
  • Work with the marketing department on development-related collateral, such as newsletters, website, e-mails, social media posts, etc.
  • Manage donor lists in Salesforce database
  • Assists with general departmental tasks

Manage Friends of AILEY

  • Serve as frontline fundraiser and primary contact for Friends of AILEY members and prospects
  • Create and manage stewardship plan for members and donors
  • Assist in appropriately and efficiently transitioning donors up the giving pipeline
  • Oversee donor acknowledgement process
  • Steward Friends and Annual Fund donors through benefit fulfillment activities such as Friends ticketing, newsletters, and event invitations

Manage Young Patrons Circle

  • Serve as frontline fundraiser and primary contact for Young Patrons Circle members and prospects
  • Create and manage stewardship plan for members
  • Assist in appropriately and efficiently transitioning donors up the giving pipeline
  • Oversee donor acknowledgement process
  • Work with the special events team to create cultivation and stewardship events
  • Manage Young Patrons Circle steering committee 

Research & Data Management

  • Identify donor prospects from ticket buyer lists, name collections, and other sources
  • Maintain current data for donor records
  • Interface with website and publications team to ensure accurate donor recognition

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptionally strong writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • Attention to detail while maintaining speed and accuracy
  • Excellent proof-reading abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of prospect research tools

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of development experience
  • Experience in or knowledge of dance and the performing arts fundraising environment is strongly encouraged
  • Salesforce experience preferred, data management experience required

Compensation

$75,000–$80,000
